Testimonials
Hear from the Mothers at PhonePe

As a mother at PhonePe, I’ve found a workplace that truly values, supports, and enables me to excel in my career while prioritizing my family. The program has provided invaluable support, from providing flexible work arrangements, to other comprehensive support systems tailored to my specific needs. The support from my manager and colleagues has made my return to work journey a fulfilling and supportive experience.

I received comprehensive support for my mental and physical health, including the ability to work from home during my third trimester for a medical emergency. Throughout my leave, I remained connected with my team through regular updates, making my return to work seamless. Post-delivery, HR frequently checked on my health and sent goodies for me and my baby, reinforcing my connection to my workplace. Even now, my manager and team continue to provide unwavering support.

The Mothers program provided sufficient flexibility which allowed me to take care of my daughter and manage work. Regular team catch-ups continued even during my maternity leave, helping me feel connected to the organization. My manager and team constantly checked in to see how I was doing . We had frequent discussions about my maternity leave, my plan for returning, any organizational changes, and my career path.

Being a working mom comes with its challenges balancing work deadlines while rushing home to be with my little one but it’s also incredibly empowering. I’m grateful for the flexibility my managers offer, allowing me to manage shifts and work from home when needed. Returning to work after six months felt like a big step, but the trust I have in my organization has been key. Picking up the processes and coordinating with stakeholders has boosted my confidence and helped me succeed.

A supportive organization that has your back goes a long way in reassuring you that you’re not alone in this journey. From the buddy program and creche facility to flexibility options and more, PhonePe has truly walked the talk when it comes to helping women balance motherhood and their careers successfully. For me, the most heartwarming moment was the empathy and support of women leaders at PhonePe who offered encouragement, checked on my health, and gave me the confidence and motivation to navigate this journey of motherhood.

One of the most rewarding aspects of this journey has been setting a positive example for my child by showing that hard work and dedication truly matter. From long hours and tired nights to early mornings and big dreams, I’ve learned to handle it all. This phase comes with a whirlwind of emotions. The most significant feeling I have during this time is gratitude for the immeasurable support from my manager and team, which has made all the difference!.

Testimonials
Hear from the PhonePe-rs

The realization that I was different from others settled in at a remarkably young age. While I tried to meet societal expectations of being a boy, I was keenly aware that I didn’t exactly fit the mold. Growing up in a conservative household intensified this feeling of isolation, making it hard to explore my true self. By seventh grade, the internet became my info-archives—a place where I could finally find the language to understand my identity. Over the next two years, I came to realize that I was gay. Initially, I feared rejection and fiercely sought ways to change this truth, but I eventually understood that there’s no such “switch”. Accepting myself was challenging, yet sharing my identity with friends and family brought immense relief. One by one, they embraced me, forming a support system that continues to strengthen me today. During college placements, I was excited to apply to PhonePe as my first choice and was thrilled to be selected. As an introvert, this role pushed me to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, fostering my personal and professional growth. Throughout my journey at PhonePe, I have encountered no homophobia; instead, I’m part of a team that is genuinely inclusive and respectful. My experience at PhonePe has been transformative. Participating in two Pride months has been a highlight, with thoughtfully organized events that create a safe and celebratory atmosphere. The combination of an inclusive culture, supportive leaders, and initiatives like insurance coverage for same-sex partners and LGBTQ employee resource groups has allowed me to thrive both professionally and personally. Looking back, I’m incredibly fortunate to have such compassionate people in my life who accepted me for who I am. For that, I’m deeply grateful.

Growing up, I was a studious kid, focused on academics and unaware of what sexuality truly meant. It was only after finishing Grade 10 that I began to understand my feelings and the realization of being attracted to the same gender. At the time, this put me in a difficult space, struggling to make sense of what was right, wrong, or even legal, especially as Section 377 was only decriminalized in 2018. Like many others, I kept those feelings to myself out of fear of rejection, judgment, or harm. However, reading stories of others coming out and the strength they displayed gave me the courage to slowly accept myself. With the unwavering support of my partner and a close friend, I began to accept myself and come out to others. I feel truly grateful that my friends and eventually my family responded with nothing but love, support, and pride. While there were moments of discrimination from strangers, the unwavering support from my sister and the happiness in my parents' eyes gave me the strength to be unapologetically myself. In previous roles, I chose to stay closeted, worried that being open might affect my career. With little to no LGBTQIA+ support in those workplaces, it was hard to be my authentic self. Joining PhonePe was a turning point. From the application process itself, where there was clear acknowledgment and support for the LGBTQIA+ community, I felt a sense of inclusion I hadn't experienced before. Though I was initially hesitant, my colleagues quickly became friends, creating a safe space without judgment. I was fortunate to have a manager who empowered me to participate in organizational events and grow in every possible way. One of the most meaningful milestones in my journey at PhonePe was becoming part of the Queer & Here ERG. It gave me an opportunity to contribute actively toward building an inclusive and safe workplace for others like me. It has been incredibly fulfilling to be part of an organization that doesn't just talk about equality but lives it every day. PhonePe has left a lasting impact on my life, not just as an employer but as a place where I truly feel seen, heard, and valued - for who I am.

Growing up in a conservative environment, I faced immense pressure to conform to traditional masculine norms, making it challenging to embrace my true identity. The constant fear of rejection and losing my family's affection made coming out seem impossible. During my teenage years, I found solace in music by artists like Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj, connecting more with femininity while struggling to relate to my peers. Realizing that living a false life was suffocating, I decided to embrace my true self despite the risks. In college, I faced bullying and harassment but took a stand by advocating for anti-bullying measures, which eventually stopped the abuse. This experience taught me the power of using my voice and the importance of living authentically. At PhonePe, I immediately felt a sense of belonging and support, which was different from my previous workplaces. The emphasis on diversity and inclusivity during the induction ceremony boosted my confidence. The 2024 Pride event further reassured me that PhonePe is committed to creating a welcoming and supportive environment. This inclusive atmosphere has allowed me to live openly and proudly, boosting my confidence and helping me grow personally. The organization's policies, initiatives, and support systems, such as gender-neutral restrooms and regular LGBT awareness training, have significantly contributed to my sense of security and empowerment. Living authentically at PhonePe has empowered me to thrive both personally and professionally, reaffirming the transformative power of true inclusivity!

Testimonials
Hear from the PhonePe-rs

I was born into a world of silence, diagnosed with profound hearing loss at just five months old. With unwavering support from my parents and early education programs, I gained the confidence to thrive, eventually entering mainstream schooling. My fascination with technology led me to pursue Computer Science Engineering at R.V. College of Engineering, where I adapted to challenges with lip-reading and hearing aids. Joining PhonePe as an SRE Engineer has been a milestone - right from an inclusive interview process to workplace accessibility features like the loop induction system, I’ve felt truly supported. My manager has been incredibly welcoming, understanding of my disability, and always willing to help. My journey has shown me that real inclusion isn’t just about accommodation but about creating an environment where everyone can thrive.

My overall experience at PhonePe has been amazing. Everyone, from my manager to HR to the facilities team, has been incredibly kind and supportive. What I value most about PhonePe is the culture of openness and equality. There’s no fear of hierarchy here. If I face a challenge, I can approach anyone, and I know my voice will be heard. Moreover, PhonePe’s premises are highly accessible, which makes a big difference. I’m proud to be part of a workplace that genuinely cares about creating an inclusive culture. The PhonePe networking event was a great experience. I really appreciate how open the team was to feedback, especially about making the workplace more inclusive for PwDs.
