PhonePe enters into a strategic alliance with Airtel Money

India, May 2nd, 2018: PhonePe, India’s fastest growing payments platform has entered into a strategic partnership with Airtel Money, the mobile wallet from Airtel Payments Bank. 

The partnership will enable customers to link their existing Airtel Money Wallets to the PhonePe app, allowing them to make transactions at all online and offline merchant accepting PhonePe payments container. This is a part of PhonePe vision to become a truly open payments platform. 

Commenting on the partnership, Hemant Gala, Head Banking & Payment, PhonePe said, “We are pleased to partner with Airtel Money and provide its customers the option to make digital transactions using their wallet on PhonePe. Building payments through partnerships has been a key element of our strategy and we continue to work on the same. Partnership with Airtel offers great opportunity to extend our customer & merchant reach to Airtel customers.”

In order to pay via Airtel Money on PhonePe, customers can link Airtel Money from ‘My Account>Wallets’ section and add Airtel Money as an option. Airtel Money will trigger an OTP and validate the customer before the wallet links to PhonePe. Customers can choose to use their Airtel Money balance along with the PhonePe wallet balance/other instruments for payments.

PhonePe is currently live across more than 60,000 online and offline merchants including MakeMyTrip, PVR, Cleartrip, 1MG, FreshMenu, Faasos and Abhibus and most national offline chains like Café Coffee Day, Apollo Pharmacy, KFC, Barista, Spencer’s, FoodWorld etc. Wallets like FreeCharge and JioMoney are also available on the PhonePe app.
